I love to share my knowledge of ceramics with others because I find it satisfying and inspiring. I have been teaching ceramics for the past 11 years at various centers, including the Memorial Art Gallery, the Genesee Pottery, Tom or Nick’s Ceramics, and Empire State College. In 2002 I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Ceramics. I exhibit my work nationally at over 20 juried fine art shows across the country and also at many fine art and craft galleries along the east coast
Carol Bell
I have worked primarily in clay for over 30 years. I consider myself a born artist and teacher. I taught at the University of Buffalo and for Empire State College during my years in Buffalo. I taught at Genesee Pottery and Tom or Nick's Ceramics over the past 10 years. I've done Artist in Residency Programs at high schools in New York where my emphasis is encouraging my students to think outside the box which brings out the creativity locked inside everyone. Throughout the year my business, Carol's Clayworks, travels to juried Arts & Crafts Shows throughout the east coast selling Happy Fish & Friends. It is a line of home accents and garden art. My fish , lizards and other critters make people smile, that's my goal. My work is sold in over 32 galleries in 16 States and the Virgin Islands. Locally my work is available at Mostly Clay in Pittsford, Art & Soul in Fairport, in Rochester.

I have always had a fascination with the past. The human experience can be reflected upon through hand made objects. By using hand made objects we create a bridge to a moment in time. As I experience a hand made objects I look for the little imperfections or "finger prints" that serve as a physical reminder of someone else. I try to recreate this effect when I make pots. I want my audience to experience me through the little breadcrumbs I leave behind. In the classes I teach, students will learn the basic skills needed to create objects using the potter's wheel as a tool. I believe in a supportive environment where students are encouraged to learn at their own pace. Together we'll develop a foundation of shapes and textures from which you can build upon. Let's learn how to walk, so that later you can dance.
